I’m Rachel, I would like to introduce myself. I am a USAF Civilian spouse raising two amazing kiddos, with a 10-year age gap!I have a cup obsession, and you will always see me with my 40 oz emotional support cup, covered in stickers.
Becoming a mom was the best thing I’ve ever done, first to my son and then to my daughter. My first birth experience was why we chose a doula for the second birth and the inspiration behind my journey into becoming a doula myself. Looking back on my first birth, things were definitely on the doctor’s timeline, and I think with better education and preparation my
first birth could have gone very differently, and a lot of the interventions could have been prevented.
When I learned I was expecting my second I immediately contacted a doula I knew I wanted someone who had more experience in dealing with the hospitals and who could help me plan and advocate for myself and my birth. In working with a doula, I was given so much more support and education which resulted in me having a birth more in line with what I had envisioned. My second birth experience with a doula was what led me to pursue this profession. I am so overjoyed to be given the opportunity to provide the support to other expecting parents that I received. I am grateful to be afforded the ability to help families feel empowered in their vision for their birth and to help them advocate for their choices.
Rachel is working towards becoming a Certified Birth Doula through DONA International ®
